Heads Over Heels!
Hickling and Filby House Captains become Headteachers for the Day!
Hi! We are the other halves of the Hickling and Filby House Captains and we have been Headteachers for the day. First of all, we agreed a learning walk for each school, which was to look at how well children felt they were doing in English and Maths. We went over to the Infant school and led a good work assembly. We supported staff at break time and interacted with the children. After that, we had a safeguarding meeting with the Chair of Governors to determine the robust nature of our Federation's safeguarding procedures. We purchased some new and necessary equipment and we emailed John Grant to finalise the dates for our Junior Leadership trip there. All in all, a very busy day, we even learnt how to eat a Jaffa Cake in the proper way (according to Mr. Young). Thank you Mr. Young, we had a great time.
The two pupils above were exceptionally good today and I enjoyed myself immensely with their commitment to the role and their involvement in finding out the information needed. Well done both of you!
It has been an extremely busy week. We have had all classes from Infants and Junior pairing up to complete Design and Technology projects together. The children have baked biscuits and older children have prepared packaging suitable for the items. Our Junior children have been extremely inventive and meticulous in the design detail wanting to know the size of biscuits so as to not waste material. It is a costly business packaging products, as we all know, and we all want to do our bit to avoid more waste. Everyone did superbly.
It was also fantastic to see a good proportion of our new Year 3 parents for September attend the open evening on Wednesday. Thank you to the Family Hub, Norse and the Schools and Communities Team for supporting the event, as well as the PTFA who were keen to promote the second-hand uniform we have available.
Next week, we have our non-uniform day on Friday 27th June in exchange for a tombola prize but we advise you to come in sports clothing as we have our virtual athletics competition courtesy of Premier Sports on the same day. It is also another transition opportunity for the Year 2 children joining our Junior school so we are putting on a French taster session in the morning for them. Those not attending our Junior school in September will be kept back with Mrs, Vaughan to talk about their new schools.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
