Netball, Gymnastics and Tennis
Sporting highs and lows are the highlight of the week!
Friday saw even more glorious sunshine and three classes undertaking their PE and Games lessons. Year 3 were enjoying Gymnastics with Mrs. Bailey, as you can see above. Year 4 were enjoying the instruction from Miss. Bambrough in Tennis and Year 5 were listening to Mrs. Angel guide them on how best to chest pass a netball. "Thumbs down everyone!" Of course, these were all highs, but sadly earlier in the week our Years 5 and 6 Boys' Football Team suffered the pain of defeat on penalties in the cup semi-final. This is always a tough way to lose, but the disappointment felt must be used as fuel to spur the team on to do even better in the league final in a few weeks time. The Federation is so proud of their efforts this season; it was just a bridge too far on this occasion for us.
I hope parents from Years 5 and 6 found the Whitwell and SATS information meetings helpful on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons respectively. We hope these have gone some way in explaining any elements which were unclear or assisted in overcoming any final worries you may have had about these up-and-coming events. remember please feel free to ask staff any questions should you have them.
Next week, it is a Bank Holiday Monday, so we are closed at both schools. On Tuesday, we have our class and leavers photographs being taken, so we all need to be looking smart that day. We also have our VE day celebrations on Thursday 8th May, so please ensure your child comes to school in something red, white and/or blue (preferably not a football shirt) for non-uniform day. I wonder which staff members will brave dressing up in 1940s attire to mark the occasion. We shall see.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
