A Marvellous Medicine

Roald Dahl Day inspires an end to the week!
It has been the first full week back and each class are getting more and more settled in meeting the expectations from their new staff teams. Reminders of how we expect children to interact with one another and with adults, as well as how to behave appropriately during their breaks and lunchtimes never get old. The children do need to be children during their unstructured times, but we must see them being responsible and thinking their actions through a little more in order to avoid further issues. I am sure they can achieve this swiftly.
The Years 5 & 6 Boys' football squad returned to action and I was pleased at their training session with the overall fitness of the children who have signed up. We have another challenging season ahead and, as any small school finds, we will always have to demonstrate a high intensity with whoever our opposition might be. I am sure the boys will do well when required. Similarly, the Year 5 & 6 Girls' squad had their training on Friday, but I am sorry to say we have only had five pupils sign up. Having attempted to drum up further participants, I am hopeful of some more girls attending, but if we do not get more, then sadly we are going to have to withdraw from the competitive league and cup, which will be the first time this has happened since I arrived.
As it was Roald Dahl Day today in order to commemorate his 109th birthday, the children completed some Dahl-related activities and shared some of their own favourite Dahl-books.
Next week, I will be popping into classes to see how teachers are doing imparting that all important knowledge to the children. I will also be observing how children are settling in and being enthused by their work.
Have a relaxing weekend everyone!
